The hearing sense of a persons’ body is the most trustworthy
because it allows a person to understand things better. That’s why listening is
much better than talking. The knowledge that is gained from listening is much
greater than the knowledge received from talking too much. The sense of hearing
allows the mind to intake much more than any other sense. “A kind of brainless
but attractive state of mind is engendered by the mere sound appeal of the
music” (Copland 599.) This shows that hearing noises can provoke insightful
thoughts into peoples’ brains. The reason that people listen to music sometimes
is to block out the world. This sense is the only one that can really block out
the world. Sure, the different things you taste might send your brain signals
about a certain something. Liking how something taste or not liking how
something taste is nowhere near being as great as being able to block out the
world and almost go into your own. The crazy part about all five senses, is
that when they are all combined, they create these thoughts of certain things
in life, whether its those certain flowers that smell good, or maybe there
something at a diner that was better than everything on the menu. They create
little memories so that every time a certain song is heard, it can be named
right off the bat. Overall, the hearing sense is stronger than the sense of
taste because it evokes more thoughts and feelings about things.
In my opinion, I think the ears and our hearing is our most trustworthy sense because they can take in so much and translate it into one thing that we understand.Like in "How We Listen", the author discussed a song and how we take in all the concepts and in our brain interrupt into one, shows how our ears are the most trustworthy. Our ears can take in a singer, the instruments and all the other components and make it something we understand and love in our head. Our ears and our vision, to me, are the least trustworthy because, as it was said in "Colors", 10% of men are colorblind, showing that it is common for our eyes are be incorrect or misleading. The cones in our eyes aren't always reliable because they are different to everyone and the colors we see aren't all the same. So, our eyes are the least trustworthy because not all of ours are the same and easily mislead us, when our ears and hearing are the most trustworthy because they can take in so much at the same time and interrupt it into one thing we love and understand.
